Optimum West Insurance Company Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Claims Adjuster - Casualty & Auto to join our team. As a Claims Adjuster - Casualty & Auto, you will be responsible for handling minor to complex size casualty claims, as well as automobile, accident benefits, and minor property losses.
Main Responsibilities- Coverage Determination: Investigate and determine coverage for claims, ensuring that all relevant policies and procedures are followed.
- Claim Investigation: Conduct thorough investigations of claims, gathering all necessary information and evidence to support the claim.
- Negotiation and Settlement: Negotiate with claimants and other parties to reach a fair and equitable settlement.
- Communication: Maintain clear and concise communication with all involved parties, including claimants, adjusters, lawyers, and other stakeholders.
- Mediations and Hearings: Participate in mediations and hearings as required, representing the company's interests and advocating for fair outcomes.
- Knowledge and Awareness: Stay up-to-date with current case law and coverage trends, ensuring that all claims are handled in accordance with the latest developments.
- Intuitive Mind: Possess a logical and analytical mind, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Time Management and Organization: Possess excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Problem-Solving and Self-Motivation: Demonstrate the ability to problem-solve, work independently, and collaborate with others as needed.
- Knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology: Possess a good understanding of anatomy and physiology, with the ability to apply this knowledge in the context of claims handling.
- Extensive Knowledge of Legal and Arbitration Systems: Possess extensive knowledge of the legal and arbitration systems, with the ability to navigate complex legal issues and advocate for the company's interests.
- Knowledge of Alberta Auto and Accident Benefit Regulations: Possess a good understanding of Alberta auto and accident benefit regulations, with the ability to apply this knowledge in the context of claims handling.
- Minimum of 5 Years of Experience: Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of success in claims handling.
- Post-Secondary Education: Possess a post-secondary education, with a degree in a relevant field such as insurance, law, or a related field.
- CIP Designation or Similar: Possess a CIP designation or similar, with a strong understanding of insurance principles and practices.
