Job Summary

The Claims Adjuster - Property is a key member of our team at Optimum West Insurance Company Inc, responsible for handling property and physical damage automobile claims. This role requires excellent customer service skills, as well as the ability to investigate losses, evaluate coverage, negotiate claims, and settle them within policy parameters.

Main Responsibilities

  • Coverage Determination and Investigation: Determine coverage for property claims, investigate losses, and evaluate the extent of damage.
  • Claim Negotiation and Settlement: Negotiate with insureds, third parties, vendors, and independent adjusters to reach a fair settlement.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate clearly and concisely with all parties involved, and exchange information with other departments as necessary.
  • Phone Handling and Subrogation: Handle general inquiry phone calls, report claims from insureds and brokers, and attempt subrogation whenever possible.
  • Salvage Recovery and Other Tasks: Recover salvage and handle other related tasks as required.

Requirements

  • Strong Communication Skills: Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all parties.
  • Time Management and Organization: Demonstrate excellent time management, prioritization, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Problem-Solving and Independence: Be able to problem-solve and work independently, with a strong ability to motivate oneself.
  • Telephone and Negotiation Skills: Possess excellent telephone and negotiation skills, with the ability to negotiate effectively with insureds and third parties.
  • Attention to Detail and Teamwork: Demonstrate strong attention to detail, accuracy, and efficiency, with a strong ability to work as part of a team.
  • CIP Designation and Experience: Have completed or be committed to completing the CIP designation, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar adjusting role, and a file count of 115+.
