Position Overview

Having embraced AWS cloud technology over seven years ago, we continuously strive to stay current with new and emerging technologies to enhance value for our customers. We leverage a wide array of AWS technologies, both in production and experimental contexts, and are seeking a skilled individual to join us on this journey.

The Live Production Support and Operations role is part of a small, agile support and development team. This position encompasses engineering and maintenance responsibilities, contributing to a team focused on applications that support hosting and network operations.

In this role, you will play a key part in both supporting and operating Momentous Ltd.'s existing cloud applications, as well as architecting and deploying new cloud solutions. Your work will involve managing web hosting, email, DNS, and domain systems that empower our diverse customer base.

Minimum Qualifications:

We require candidates to possess an Engineering degree, Computer Science, or a related field, along with experience in systems administration or DevOps.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide second-level support for customer websites, applications, and email.
  • Occasional after-hours support (up to 1-2 incidents per week).
  • Maintain Plesk and Virtuozzo VPS servers.
  • Enhance and maintain existing AWS infrastructure.
  • Monitor system stability and performance, troubleshooting site issues as needed.
  • Administer Unix/Linux and Windows-based systems.
  • Manage database systems (MSSQL, MySQL).
  • Utilize cloud computing services and methodologies with AWS.
  • Research, develop, and implement the latest AWS technologies.
  • Engage in coding and scripting using various open-source technologies and tools.
  • Work with infrastructure as code tools such as Opsworks.
  • Contribute to IT operations processes.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in system administration, security, networking, and web technologies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of core network protocols and services (TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, REST/SOAP, FTPS/SFTP, DNS, SSL, firewalls, load balancers).
  • Advanced knowledge of AWS Services including EC2, VPC, S3, ELB, EBS, RDS, Route53.
  • Familiarity with Agile & Scrum project management methodologies.
  • Analytical skills for performance measurement and data-driven decision-making.
  • Ability to leverage advanced cloud platform services and techniques.
  • Experience with Source Control, Automated Build, and Continuous Integration.
  • Commitment to maintainable and testable code.
  • Understanding of progressive release methodologies.

Experience Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise Linux and Windows DevOps, configuration management, software development, and agile processes.
  • 5 years of experience working in a Linux environment.
  • 2 years of experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Perl, Python, or JavaScript.
  • 2 years of experience writing or editing technical documentation.
