Position Overview
Having embraced AWS cloud technology over seven years ago, we continually strive to stay current with new and emerging technologies to enhance value for our clients. We utilize a variety of AWS technologies in both production and experimental contexts. We are seeking a dedicated individual to contribute to this journey.
The Live Production Support and Operations role is part of a small, agile support and development team. This position encompasses engineering and maintenance responsibilities, contributing to a team that manages applications supporting hosting and network operations.
In this role, you will assist in both the support and operations of Momentous Ltd.'s existing cloud applications, as well as the architecture and deployment of new cloud solutions. You will work on the web hosting, email, DNS, and domain systems that empower our diverse clientele.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants should possess an Engineering degree, Computer Science, or a related field, along with experience in systems administration or DevOps.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide second-level support for client websites, applications, and email.
- Occasional after-hours support (up to 1-2 incidents per week).
- Manage Plesk and Virtuozzo VPS servers.
- Maintain and enhance existing AWS infrastructure.
- Monitor system stability and performance, troubleshooting site issues as needed.
- Administer Unix/Linux and Windows-based systems.
- Oversee database systems (MSSQL, MySQL).
- Utilize cloud computing services and methodologies with AWS.
- Research, develop, and implement the latest AWS technologies.
- Engage in coding and scripting using a variety of open-source technologies and tools.
- Work with infrastructure as code tools such as Opsworks.
- Contribute to IT operations processes.
Required Skills:
- Extensive proficiency in system administration, security, networking, and web technologies.
- In-depth understanding of core network protocols and services (TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, REST/SOAP, FTPS/SFTP, DNS, SSL, firewalls, load balancers).
- Advanced knowledge of AWS Services including: EC2, VPC, S3, ELB, EBS, RDS, Route53.
- Familiarity with Agile & Scrum project management methodologies.
- Analytical skills for performance measurement and data-driven decision-making.
- Ability to leverage advanced cloud platform services and techniques.
- Experience with Source Control, Automated Build, and Continuous Integration.
- Focus on Maintainable & Testable Code.
- Understanding of Progressive Release methodologies.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in enterprise Linux and Windows DevOps, configuration management, software development, and agile processes.
- 5 years of experience working in a Linux environment.
- 2 years of experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Perl, Python, or JavaScript.
- 2 years of experience writing or editing technical documentation.
