Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver equitable and informed underwriting judgments, utilizing the necessary evidence to support your decisions.
  • Evaluate all applications that are not approved by the online underwriting system, including initial submissions, supplementary information, modifications, and assess both medical and financial risks.
  • Provide a telephone support service for pre-sale inquiries, acting as the primary contact for advisers seeking to place business, ensuring accurate underwriting indications and collaborating with Sales to maintain our status as their preferred provider.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of insurance industry standards and current practices.
  • Engage with Customer Services, Pricing, Sales, and reinsurance partners as needed, representing the Underwriting department positively and collaboratively.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the business and contribute to the establishment of 'best practices' for our clients and colleagues.
  • Demonstrate proven expertise in Income Protection, Life, Critical Illness, and disability products.
  • Bring a minimum of seven years of underwriting experience, with an active underwriting authority of at least £1.5m for Life, £675,000 for Critical Illness, and £60,000 per annum for Income Protection.
