Job Summary

As a Network Operations Specialist at Northwestel, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the company's network assets. This includes monitoring surveillance systems, personnel movement, and issuing system clearances and planned releases following established guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control Northwestel's network assets to ensure optimal performance.
  • Interface with connecting carriers to resolve facility failures.
  • Prepare and distribute network trouble tickets, and update facilities information.
  • Prepare and distribute reports as required.
  • Analyze trouble patterns generated by digital switching systems, Frame Relay Networks, IP Networks, and transport equipment.
  • Compile and generate statistical reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Interface with Corporate Security, Environmental Action Committee, Service Desk, and Change Management to provide details and analysis.
  • Provision and administer Operations Support Centre Surveillance.
  • Initial testing on Private Wire, Frame Relay, and IP related services.
  • Shift work will be required for this position.
  • Timely completion of administrative tasks, including time reporting, expense reporting, and corporate card statements.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a 2-year telecommunications or IT electronics program.
  • Ability to analyze data and form conclusions using data from a wide range of sources.
  • Knowledge of SNMP, Frame Relay, ATM, and TCP/IP concepts and protocols.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team with a broad range of duties.
  • Excellent English written/verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Pre-employment tests and/or work simulation exercises may be required as part of the recruitment process.
