The City of Yellowknife, a leader in delivering valuable services to residents, is seeking a highly skilled Network Administrator to join the Corporate Services Department.


Job Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, operating, and maintaining the city's core infrastructure equipment. This includes acquiring, configuring, deploying, and maintaining all associated hardware; developing, implementing, and enforcing policies and procedures to ensure the city's core infrastructure objectives are met; and serving as a liaison with user departments to ensure that infrastructure resources are properly developed and utilized to deliver maximum benefits to users and the city.

This role requires strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2019 and 2022, as well as associated services development and support. The ideal candidate will possess critical thinking skills to evaluate problems, gather information, understand causes, and identify the best possible solutions.

The incumbent must also have working technical knowledge of network hardware, including experience in switched and routed environments. Additionally, they should possess strong knowledge of anti-virus software, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other network security measures.


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • University degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in implementing, supporting, and maintaining critical systems in a multi-platform enterprise environment
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2019 and 2022
  • Critical thinking skills to evaluate problems and identify solutions
  • Working technical knowledge of network hardware
  • Demonstrated experience working in switched and routed environments
  • Strong knowledge of anti-virus software, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other network security measures
