Job Summary

Northwestel is currently seeking a skilled Telecommunications Network Operations Specialist to join their team. This role involves managing, controlling, and maintaining the company's network assets by monitoring surveillance systems, personnel movement, and issuing system clearances and planned releases following established guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control Northwestel's network assets to ensure optimal performance
  • Interface with connecting carriers on facility failures and coordinate resolution efforts
  • Prepare and distribute network trouble tickets and update facilities information
  • Collaborate with Corporate Security, Environmental Action Committee, Service Desk, and Change Management teams to provide detailed analysis and reports
  • Provision and administer Operations Support Centre Surveillance
  • Perform initial testing on Private Wire, Frame Relay, and IP related services
  • Work flexible hours, including shifts, to meet business needs

Requirements

  • Graduate of a 2-year telecommunications or IT electronics program
  • Ability to analyze data and draw conclusions from various data sources
  • Knowledge of SNMP, Frame Relay, ATM, and TCP/IP concepts and protocols, and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and provide excellent customer service
