We are seeking a qualified Network Administrator to join our Corporate Services Department.


The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, operation, and maintenance of our core infrastructure equipment, including acquiring, configuring, deploying, and maintaining associated hardware. As a key member of our team, this individual will develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure our core infrastructure objectives are met. They will also serve as a liaison with user departments to ensure that infrastructure resources are properly utilized to deliver maximum benefits to users and the City.



A University Degree in Computer Science or a related field is required. The incumbent must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in implementing, supporting, and maintaining critical systems in a multi-platform enterprise environment. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2019 and 2022, as well as associated services development and support, is essential. The ability to use critical thinking to evaluate problems, gather information, and identify solutions is also required. Additionally, working technical knowledge of network hardware and experience working in a switched and routed environment are necessary. The successful applicant will demonstrate strong knowledge of anti-virus software, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other network security measures. Effective communication of technical information to a non-technical audience is also essential.


The City of Yellowknife offers a competitive starting salary of $113,135 and a comprehensive benefits package, which includes a monthly housing allowance, a defined benefit pension plan, and relocation assistance.
