Network Operations Control Centre Technician

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Network Operations Control Centre Technician to join our team at Northwestel. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing, controlling, and maintaining our network assets, ensuring the smooth operation of our services.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor surveillance systems and personnel movement to ensure network security and integrity.
- Manage and maintain network assets, including troubleshooting and resolving issues.
- Interface with connecting carriers to resolve facility failures and ensure seamless service delivery.
- Analyze trouble patterns generated by digital switching systems, Frame Relay Networks, IP Networks, and various Transport equipment.
- Compile and analyze statistical reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to inform network optimization.
- Collaborate with Corporate Security, Environmental Action Committee, Service Desk, and Change Management to ensure effective communication and issue resolution.
- Provision and administer Operations Support Centre Surveillance.
- Perform initial testing on Private Wire, Frame Relay, and IP related services.
- Work a shift schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Participate in organizational health and safety programs, adhering to safe work practices and procedures.
- Complete administrative tasks, including time reporting, expense reporting, and submission of corporate card statements.
Requirements
- Graduate of a 2-year telecommunications or IT electronics program.
- Ability to analyze data and form conclusions using data from a wide range of sources.
- Knowledge of SNMP, Frame Relay, ATM, and TCP/IP concepts and protocols.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a team with a broad range of duties.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service.
