Air Canada is seeking a highly skilled Labor Relations Specialist to join its team. Based in North America, this role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a leading airline and contribute to the company's success.

Job Summary

The Labor Relations Specialist will be responsible for providing expert advice on Labour Relations, including interpretation of collective agreements, labour codes, and health and safety issues. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Director, Labour Relations, in negotiations, develop, research, and prepare Company Bargaining Agendas in consultation with line management.
  • Provide assistance to line management in grievance handling and administration of collective agreements and all corporate policies applicable to bargaining unit employees.
  • Liaise with union representatives to promote a co-operative and effective labour relations climate.
  • Prepare and conduct training on assorted labour relations matters such as the Collective Agreement, Canada Labour Code, attendance, applications of discipline, and effective conflict resolution.
  • Research grievance/arbitration and bargaining issues.
  • Represent the Company at step 3 grievance and arbitration hearings.
  • Assist in negotiating major collective agreements and/or represent the Company as spokesperson and team leader in negotiating various collective agreements.
  • Represent the Company at various external agencies, e.g. CLRB, FETCO, HRDC.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience and knowledge.
  • Relevant experience in the discipline.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills in English.
  • Strong negotiating abilities, good judgment, and a good sense of initiative.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with minimum supervision; aptitude to cope with heavy workload.
  • Ability to undertake extensive travel as well as work extended hours frequently.
Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per annum (based on location and experience).
