About the Role:

Gate Gourmet Canada is seeking an experienced Senior Operations Director to lead our airline catering unit. In this critical role, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our flight kitchen, ensuring high-quality food production and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management: Manage a team of exempt staff across various departments, including food production, transportation, equipment processing, and quality assurance.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Ensure that customer requirements are met on all airline accounts, with a focus on production processing, on-time performance, equipment inventory, and quality assurance controls.
  • Operational Excellence: Drive business objectives and goals related to food costs, labor costs, sanitation, quality assurance, market track goals, airline goals, and other specific objectives.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain HACCP, FDA, local airport, quality assurance, and airline specifications at the highest level.
  • Menu Cycles and Equipment Maintenance: Monitor menu cycles to ensure customer service and satisfaction are not interrupted, and maintain proper equipment for operation excellence.
  • Staff Management: Manage operation staff to drive exceeding set targets, support lean initiatives, and achieve OPEX targets.
  • Training and Development: Monitor training programs to ensure corporate policies and procedures are followed and maintained.
  • Employee Relations and Labor Agreement: Monitor employee relations in each department and ensure compliance with the labor agreement.
  • Customer and Government Audits: Support customer audits and government audits to meet compliance.
  • Performance Evaluations: Conduct annual performance evaluations of direct reports in compliance with corporate initiatives.
  • Communication and Security: Maintain customer communication with local and corporate airline representatives, ensure facility security by monitoring and maintaining existing programs, and verify company policies and procedures are followed.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 10+ years of experience in in-flight catering or food manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and/or six sigma and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong leadership skills, with ability to drive positive program change, motivate diverse management and hourly staff, and manage multiple account requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, planning, scheduling capabilities, and effective communication skills.
  • Able to obtain an AOA badge and customs seal.
