About the OpportunityWe are seeking a part-time Youth Care Practitioner to join our team at the Youth Resource Centre (YRC). As a Youth Care Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing shelter, crisis intervention, and case planning services to vulnerable youth and young adults in an emergency shelter setting.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide holistic support to youth, incorporating the seven sacred teachings and the teachings of the Medicine Wheel
- Work with youth to problem solve and navigate various systems
- Perform shelter intakes, assessments, and registration duties
- Provide support and crisis intervention
- Supervise and provide basic needs care to youth
- Perform general facility tasks, cleaning, and cooking chores
- Attend staff meetings and training as required
- Post-secondary education or a combination of education, work experience, and lived experience
- Experience working with vulnerable youth
- Knowledge of trauma and resilience-informed care
- Strong relationship building skills and experience in de-escalation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
