About the Opportunity

**Position Summary**

The Link Youth and Family Supports is seeking a part-time Youth Care Practitioner within the Youth Resource Centre (YRC). The successful candidate will provide shelter, crisis intervention, youth intake, and case planning, as well as basic needs service provision to vulnerable youth and young adults in an emergency shelter setting.

**Key Responsibilities**

The Youth Care Practitioner will be responsible for:

  • Providing holistic mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual support to youth based on the teachings of the Medicine Wheel
  • Working with youth to problem solve and navigate various systems
  • Performing shelter intakes, assessments, and registration duties
  • Providing support and crisis intervention
  • Supervising and providing service and basic needs care to youth
  • Performing general facility tasks, cleaning, and cooking chores
  • Attending staff meetings and training as required

**Qualifications**

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Post-secondary education or a combination of education, work experience, and lived experience
  • Experience working with vulnerable youth
  • Knowledge of trauma and resilience-informed care
  • Strong relationship building skills and experience in de-escalation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C certification
