About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a healthcare team, providing support to clients and families through the application of recreation intervention to support holistic functioning of clients.

The Recreation Therapy Associate will provide interventions to groups or individuals in inpatient, outpatient or community settings, related to the client's leisure needs and overall plan of care. The successful candidate will practice in adherence to practice standards and scope of employment.

About You

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual with a passion for working with individuals with physical/cognitive disabilities. The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary diploma with a concentration in Therapeutic Recreation from an accredited educational institution or a diploma, and experience working with individuals with physical/cognitive disabilities.

  • BLS - C certification is required.
  • Effective listening and communication skills; ability to motivate patients/veterans.
  • Adaptability/Flexibility: changing and adapting skills to changing patient populations and/or worksites.
  • Ability to work independently, without direct supervision.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.

About the Hours

The successful candidate will be required to work permanent full-time hours of 75 hours biweekly, including weekdays, occasional weekends, and holidays.

About the Compensation and Incentives

We offer a competitive hourly rate of $22.84 - $25.95 per hour, as well as a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, and a defined benefit pension plan.
