Job Title: Director of Education and Reconciliation

The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Education and Reconciliation to lead our education initiatives and work towards reconciliation with First Nations communities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive education strategy that aligns with the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs' vision and goals.
  • Lead the development of education laws and policies that reflect First Nations traditions, language, and culture.
  • Collaborate with government agencies, education authorities, and other stakeholders to advance First Nations education and reconciliation.
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to education teams and working groups.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with First Nations communities, education authorities, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor and analyze education research and policy developments.
  • Prepare and present reports on education activities and outcomes.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Education or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of First Nations Treaty-Crown relationship and histories.
  • Experience working with First Nations communities and education authorities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and cross-cultural skills.
  • Fluency in a First Nations language is an asset.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and leadership skills.
