About the Role

The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs seeks an exceptional individual to fill the position of Director of Education. This key role involves leading and coordinating education initiatives, including reasserting First Nations jurisdiction in the area of Education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of a First Nations approach to transform education and reassert jurisdiction.
  • Collaborate with Canada to develop federal recognition legislation for First Nations education laws.
  • Serve as the AMC representative on provincial, regional, and national education initiatives.
  • Direct and monitor education initiatives to ensure timely progress and budget adherence.
  • Provide strategic advice and support problem-solving efforts.
  • Develop and maintain communication networks with education stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Education or equivalent experience.
  • Variety of work experience in the field of education.
  • Knowledge of First Nations Treaty-Crown relationships and histories.
  • Familiarity with constitutional, legal, legislative, and political frameworks impacting First Nations.
  • Fluency in a First Nations language is considered an asset.
