Homelessness Specialist

Homes First Society is seeking a qualified Homelessness Specialist to coordinate and implement harm reduction initiatives. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in developing complex case plans, providing comprehensive support services, and fostering community partnerships.
About Us
Homes First Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing affordable housing and support services to individuals experiencing homelessness. Our mission is to break the cycle of homelessness by offering a range of programs and services tailored to meet the unique needs of our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct harm reduction needs assessments and develop comprehensive care plans for clients
- Educate staff on harm reduction guidelines, procedures, and standards to ensure effective service delivery
- Supervise a team of staff members and provide guidance on effective practices and referrals
- Develop and monitor harm reduction supplies and inventory management systems at Homes First sites
- Establish and maintain partnerships with healthcare providers, community organizations, and other stakeholders
- Develop and implement new harm reduction programming and services
Requirements
- Diploma or Certificate in a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- At least one year of supervisory experience in a unionized environment
- Three years of significant experience working with people who are homeless, use drugs, and/or have mental health issues
- Excellent communication, time management, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
