Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced International Student Advisor to join our team at the University of Niagara Falls Canada.

About the Role:

  • This is a full-time, permanent position that requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with international students and colleagues.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in student services, preferably in a post-secondary setting, and be knowledgeable about Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) policies.
  • They will be responsible for providing pre-departure and settlement support to international students, advising them on immigration guidelines, financial obligations, and academic policies.
  • Additionally, they will design and implement educational programs to educate students about Canadian culture, immigration issues, and other relevant topics.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills are essential to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide exceptional customer service to international students, responding to their inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  2. Collaborate with campus partners to develop an integrated approach to support at-risk students and create a welcoming environment for all students.
  3. Design and deliver workshops, presentations, and orientation sessions to educate students about Canadian culture, immigration issues, and other relevant topics.
  4. Liaise with various agencies, such as Citizenship and Immigration Canada, Canada Revenue Agency, and health care insurance companies, to enable international students to study and work legally and successfully.
  5. Cultivate and maintain relationships with community resources dedicated to supporting international students and newcomers to Canada.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Certification as an Immigration Professional (Registered Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) or Registered International Student Advisor (RISIA)) is an asset.
  • A minimum of three years' experience in student services, preferably in a post-secondary setting, including experience in areas related to student support and promoting student success.
  • Highly knowledgeable about IRCC policies and procedures relating to international students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
