Job Title: Budget Coordinator Senior Associate

Job Overview:

The City of Toronto is seeking a highly skilled Budget Coordinator Senior Associate to join its Finance team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for analyzing, coordinating, and implementing the operating and capital budgets for the Toronto Shelter & Support Services (TSSS) division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the annual budget process and provide analytical support in capital and operating budget development.
  • Monitor, control, and analyze expenditures, revenues, and management of capital and operating budgets throughout the year.
  • Prepare financial reports for program areas and provide timely, accurate financial information to divisional management.
  • Establish credible professional relationships with program management and staff to provide value-added strategic and financial planning advice.
  • Supervise, motivate, and train assigned staff to ensure effective teamwork and high standards of work quality.
  • Participate in financial control system reviews to ensure the integrity of program payments and revenue streams.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in a discipline pertinent to the job function (such as accounting or finance).
  • Considerable experience in the application of principles and practices of operating and capital budget formulation, analysis, and reconciliation of ledger accounts.
  • Proficiency in Excel and other computer-based systems, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Ability to coordinate large volume subsidies from federal/provincial ministries and other external funding sources.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and accounting standards for public sector.
