Senior Finance Director for Research and Financial Management
About the Role:We are seeking an experienced Senior Finance Director to lead our Research and Financial Management team at Western University. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the post-award administration and financial management of research funds awarded to the university and its researchers.
Key Responsibilities:The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Leveraging strategic leadership skills to advance operational practices, business processes, financial controls, and stewardship/risk management functions.
- Ensuring compliance with institutional policies and government regulations, as well as guidelines from sponsors, not-for-profit organizations, and private sector businesses.
- Providing financial guidance, advice, and expertise to stakeholders, including Associate Vice-Presidents, Directors, Finance Managers, Financial Officers, Administrative staff, and researchers.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- An undergraduate degree in Business Management/Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years' experience leading and managing professional staff, preferably in a financial control and reporting environment.
- Experience in strategic planning, project management, and implementation, operationalization, and contract management.
- In-depth knowledge of financial budgeting principles, accounting principles, and fund accounting.
- Ability to collaborate and negotiate across internal and external boundaries, deal confidentially with sensitive information, and apply discretion and diplomacy as necessary.
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of enterprise-wide risk management.
$120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience.
