As an Ability Management Advisor with the City of Calgary, you will play a critical role in supporting the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) in the management of sickness and accident (S&A), workers' compensation board (WCB), and long-term disability (LTD) claims. Your primary responsibilities will include guiding, instructing, and counseling employees, as well as initiating and maintaining contact with health professionals, insurance carriers, and other partners.
- Develop and implement safe and healthy return-to-work plans for employees, ensuring compliance with City policies and procedures, as well as Alberta Human Rights Duty to Accommodate legislation.
- Collaborate with all sections of the CFD to place employees in meaningful modified work assignments, providing support and resources as needed.
- Administer, approve, and coordinate pay for employees in modified work positions, ensuring accurate data entry and documentation in accordance with Ability Management/Health Act regulations.
- Collect and maintain data on the effectiveness of the Ability Management Program, identifying trends and areas for improvement in illness and injury prevention.
Qualifications for this role include a completed 1-year certificate in a related field, such as ability management, administration, human resources, or social services, as well as at least 3 years of relevant experience. Knowledge of ability management practices and WCB procedures is considered an asset. If you are a motivated and detail-oriented individual with excellent communication and problem-solving skills, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
