Job Title: Indigenous Cultural Safety Practice Lead

Interior Health Authority is seeking a permanent full-time Indigenous Cultural Safety Practice Lead to join our team. The worksite location for this position is flexible and can be located anywhere within British Columbia.

About the Role

The Indigenous Cultural Safety Practice Lead will design strategy, set standards, and direction for programs and initiatives that fall within the Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility program and Indigenous Partnerships portfolio. The incumbent will collaborate with other portfolios to ensure seamless integration of person-centered services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a variety of strategic initiatives to support IH program and operational leadership in engaging with Nation, community, and Indigenous partners to facilitate ongoing collaboration and effective implementation of joint priorities.
  • Develop and implement plans to address emerging priorities of care, including issues where no current program or structure exists.
  • Collaborate with Indigenous community partners and IH content experts to identify, design, and address gaps that exist.
  • Provide leadership to local First Nation and Métis Letter of Understanding (LOU) committees comprised of Nation and IH administrator and managers.
  • Represent IH on external committees at the regional and provincial level as IH representative.
Requirements

The successful candidate will possess a depth and breadth of knowledge to successfully implement strategies across the continuum of all programs and departments within IH. The incumbent will be expected to understand the portfolio's 'big picture' by:

  • Keeping pace with changes by scanning the environment for relevant trends and developments affecting the portfolio's programs.
  • Demonstrating the ability to identify strategic issues and collaborate with appropriate partners across IH to assess the situation and alternatives.
  • Being updated on current IH, Strategic Provincial, and Federal initiatives, and providing advice to IH leadership.
