Indigenous Student Development Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Indigenous Student Development Specialist to join our team at Thompson Rivers University. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing academic and cultural support to Indigenous students, including planning, coordinating, and implementing programs and services to enhance their success and sense of belonging.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement academic and cultural programs for Indigenous students, including on-campus and online initiatives.
- Provide one-on-one coaching and advising to students on academic strategies, available resources, and policies.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to develop and implement student success initiatives.
- Manage and monitor learning management systems for reporting students of concern.
- Consult and debrief with faculty, staff, and administration to ensure seamless triaging and service excellence.
- Design and facilitate presentations, orientations, and workshops related to student academic development.
- Lead and coordinate academic and cultural activities and events to promote student learning and enhance student success and sense of belonging.
- Connect with Indigenous communities and build partnerships to support student success.
- Coordinate, prepare, and maintain documentation, records, and reports to identify current trends and provide evidence-based recommendations.
- Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
- Three years' experience working with post-secondary students, including experience working with Indigenous students, educational technology tools, and case management.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous cultures, relationships, and community needs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Hours of work may include evenings to meet the needs of designated student populations.
- Off-campus travel may be required.
