About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager of Assistive Technology, the clinical resident participates as a learner member of the clinical health team providing orthotic care to both inpatients and outpatients. The resident will learn to support the evaluation, treatment planning, individualized design, custom fabrication, implementation, and maintenance of orthoses to enhance patient mobility and/or physical function.

The clinical resident will work collaboratively with the inter-professional health care team and others to assist the patient in achieving their orthotic goals. This opportunity is open to graduates from an accredited education program recognized by Orthotics Prosthetics Canada who have not challenged the Orthotics Prosthetics Canada Orthotic Clinical Certification exam.

About You

We are looking for individuals with a two-year diploma from an OPC-approved Prosthetic/Orthotic Clinical Program or equivalent practical experience. Applicants must register with OPC for residency as appropriate and have experience working with patients with physical/cognitive impairments.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and a high level of manual dexterity. Strong problem-solving abilities, computer skills, and understanding of privacy and confidentiality requirements are also essential. Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset.

Hours

This is a long assignment, full-time position with 75 hours bi-weekly. The duration of the position is approximately 24 months.

Compensation and Incentives

The successful candidate will receive a competitive hourly rate of $30.08 - $32.09. Additionally, successful candidates may be eligible for a signing bonus and relocation assistance with a defined Return of Service contract.
