Registered Orthotic Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Orthotic Technician to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. As a key member of our inter-professional healthcare team, you will provide technical expertise in the evaluation, treatment planning, and fabrication of assistive devices, primarily orthoses, to enhance patient mobility and/or physical function.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our healthcare team to provide optimal care and assist patients in achieving their orthotic goals. You will be responsible for contributing to the ongoing care of patients, working closely with certified clinicians to ensure the quality and integrity of orthoses meet the physical and functional needs of patients.
We are looking for a candidate with a strong ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team. You will possess excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and a high level of manual dexterity. Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset.
The Registered Orthotic Technician will work in a dynamic environment, providing high-quality care to patients. You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse team of professionals and contribute to the development of our assistive technology services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise in the evaluation, treatment planning, and fabrication of assistive devices, primarily orthoses
- Work collaboratively with the inter-professional healthcare team to provide optimal care
- Contribute to the ongoing care of patients, working closely with certified clinicians
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and a high level of manual dexterity
Requirements:
- Registration in good standing with Orthotics Prosthetics Canada (annual renewal)
- Minimum of two years' experience (Technical Internship is considered experience)
- Ability to communicate well with patients, families, and the healthcare team
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills and have organizational skills to complete assigned work and manage changing caseloads
- High level of manual dexterity, strong problem-solving abilities, computer skills
- Understanding of privacy and confidentiality requirements and understanding of infection control procedures
- Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset

Compensation and Incentives:
The successful candidate may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan. Successful candidates may also be eligible for a signing bonus and up to $5,000 of relocation assistance with a defined Return of Service contract.
