About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority seeks a clinical resident to participate as a learner member of the clinical health team providing orthotic care to inpatients and outpatients. The resident will work under the supervision of a certified clinician, assisting with patient evaluation, treatment planning, custom fabrication, and implementation of orthoses.

This opportunity is specifically designed for graduates from accredited education programs recognized by Orthotics Prosthetics Canada. Learners must practice under the supervision of a certified clinician until licensure is obtained.

About You
  • You must have a two-year diploma from an OPC-approved Prosthetic/Orthotic Clinical Program or equivalent practical experience.
  • Applicants are required to register with OPC for residency as appropriate.
  • Experience working with patients with physical/cognitive impairments is essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and organizational abilities to manage changing caseloads are necessary.
  • A high level of manual dexterity, strong problem-solving abilities, and computer skills are also required.
  • Understanding of privacy and confidentiality requirements, as well as infection control procedures, is mandatory.

Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset.

Hours
  • This is a long-term assignment with a full-time position, requiring 75 hours bi-weekly.
  • The duration of the assignment is approximately 24 months.
Compensation and Incentives

The hourly rate for this position is $30.08 - $32.09.

Successful candidates may be eligible for a signing bonus and relocation assistance, subject to a defined Return of Service contract.
