Student Engagement and Community Programs Coordinator

The University of British Columbia seeks an experienced and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Student Engagement and Community Programs Coordinator. This position is a key member of the First Nations House of Learning (FNHL) team, responsible for coordinating events and programming support for the Student Engagement and Community Programs portfolios.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate events and programming support for FNHL's Student Engagement and Community Programs portfolios, including but not limited to: planning and preparations, managing event guest lists, tracking RSVPs, maintaining event information, coordinating handouts, generating name tags, tracking event budgets, and assisting at events.
  • Provide administrative and programming support to Musqueam and UBC Bridge Through Sport Program staff, including coordinating events and obtaining approvals, creating posters, developing and administering surveys, and coordinating walking and fitness programs.
  • Update social media channels for the FNHL Student Engagement and Community Programs portfolio, including Facebook, Instagram, and the website.
  • Schedule student meetings and provide communication and follow-up support to first-year students regarding first-year student retention initiatives.
  • Participate in the Student Engagement and Community Programs budget planning process, monitoring the program budget to ensure that expenses comply with program and UBC financial policies, procedures, and requirements.

Requirements:

  • High school graduation and two-year post-secondary diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree an asset.
  • 4 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively both within the UBC community and with external stakeholders.
  • Class 5 BC Driver's License preferred. Ability to operate a vehicle in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Proficient computer skills with MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint required.

Estimated Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 per year.
