About the Role

Ventus Construction Ltd. is seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our team. As a Carpenter, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of our construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare Estimates and Plans

Develop detailed estimates of labour and material costs for construction projects, taking into account building codes and regulations.

Read and Interpret Blueprints

Carefully review blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine work requirements and ensure compliance with building codes.

Measure and Prepare Materials

Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, and other materials to ensure precise fit and finish.

Build and Install Structures

Construct foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems to ensure the structural integrity of buildings.

Fit and Install Fixtures

Install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware to ensure a safe and functional living or working space.

Supervise and Train

Supervise and instruct apprentices, ensuring they receive proper training and guidance to develop their skills.

Maintain and Repair

Perform routine maintenance and repairs on buildings and wooden structures to ensure they remain safe and functional.

Requirements
  • Education and Experience

Secondary (high) school graduation certificate and 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in the trade.

Work Environment

Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in noisy and dusty environments.

Physical Demands

Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including bending, crouching, kneeling, and handling heavy loads.

Work Schedule

Ability to work a 40-hour week, with overtime required as needed.
