About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Social Worker to join our Community Transition Team at the Nanaimo Correctional Centre. As a Clinical Social Worker, you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive health and mental health services to clients in a correctional setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive health and mental health assessments, including interviewing clients and gathering relevant information to inform treatment plans.
  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy sessions to clients, focusing on trauma-informed care and evidence-based practices.
  • Develop and implement discharge plans, ensuring seamless transitions for clients upon release from the correctional centre.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including healthcare providers, social workers, and community agencies, to coordinate services and support clients' needs.
  • Engage in community outreach and partnership development to enhance access to resources and services for clients.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution, with relevant graduate-level mental health courses and practicum experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of recent clinical experience in a correctional health or related setting, with expertise in child protection, child development, and grief and loss.
  • Current full registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers.
  • Valid BC Driver's License, with local area travel requiring the use of a personal vehicle.
