Climate Change and Health Specialist

Fraser Health is seeking a Climate Change and Health Specialist to provide subject matter expertise, project management, and strategic leadership on issues relating to climate change and health. The successful candidate will work closely with the Medical Health Officer, Environmental Health, and the Health Protection team to implement climate change and health adaptation initiatives across Fraser Health.
Key Responsibilities- Provide leadership in the implementation of climate change and health adaptation initiatives
- Work with the Medical Health Officer, Environmental Health, and the Health Protection team to coordinate, plan, and prioritize activities
- Develop and implement change management plans to support the implementation of climate change and health adaptation initiatives
- Coordinate the strategic planning, monitoring, and evaluation of priority climate and planetary health initiatives
- Document performance trends and recommend modifications to improve climate change-related programs
The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in a discipline related to Environmental Health, sustainability, and climate action, plus a minimum of seven years' of recent, related experience. They will also have demonstrated leadership practices, including clear, caring, and courageous leadership, and the ability to create respectful and effective relationships with Indigenous leaders, knowledge keepers, and representatives.
CompetenciesThe successful candidate will have a working knowledge of climate change science, health impacts, equity, and adaptation strategies, including air quality, water quality and quantity, extreme weather events and emergencies, emerging diseases, ecosystem impacts, and food and water safety and security. They will also have the ability to integrate feedback from stakeholders into project activities and to build effective relationships with staff members.
