Job Title: Planning Manager

WSP Canada is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Planning Manager to join our team in Winnipeg, Manitoba. As a key member of our Planning, Landscape Architecture and Urban Design Team, you will be responsible for leading the Planning team, overseeing proposals, projects, team development and growth, and business financials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify strategically important business growth opportunities and build relationships with clients.
  • Provide clear leadership and establish the overall direction for the Planning team, in alignment with business unit strategy.
  • Manage and oversee a wide variety of interesting and diverse projects, taking on different defined roles and responsibilities to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Support business development activities, including the preparation of bids, pricing, and content development.
  • Monitor project budgets and schedules, identifying risks early on to manage them effectively.
  • Support mentorship and motivate the team to achieve high-quality deliverables that represent WSP's commitment to quality.
  • Exercise tact, diplomacy, and professionalism when interacting with external stakeholders, clients, the public, politicians, and colleagues.

Requirements:

  • A university degree in Planning, Environmental Studies, or Public Policy, Geography, or a similar degree.
  • At least 8 years of progressive experience in a municipal or environmental planning business setting, with a demonstrated knowledge of land use planning legislation and policy.
  • Demonstrated public consultation experience, including experience facilitating stakeholder and public meetings.
  • Strong project management experience with complex municipal or land development planning projects, comprised of multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to collect, organize, query, analyze, and effectively communicate information.
  • Full Membership, or eligibility for Full Membership, of the Canadian Institute of Planners.
