Job Summary:

Thrive Group Canada is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Part-Time Recreation Programmer to join our team at St. Peter's Residence at Chedoke. As a Recreation Programmer, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering resident-focused therapeutic recreation programs and interventions throughout the home.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver therapeutic recreation programs and interventions that cater to the diverse needs and interests of residents.
  • Collaborate with the recreation team to develop and implement special events and activities that promote socialization and engagement among residents.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with residents, their families, and healthcare team members to ensure a high level of customer service and satisfaction.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify resident needs and preferences, and develop programs that meet those needs.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports of program participation, resident feedback, and program evaluations.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and research in therapeutic recreation to ensure the delivery of high-quality programs and services.

Requirements:

  • College diploma or university degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in a long-term care environment, preferably in a therapeutic recreation role.
  • Strong knowledge of dementia care and experience working with individuals with dementia.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with residents, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on customer service and resident-centered care.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the role, including lifting, standing, and walking for extended periods.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
