Job Title: Part-Time Recreation Programmer

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Recreation Programmer to join our team at St. Peter's Residence at Chedoke. As a Recreation Programmer, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering resident-focused therapeutic recreation programs and interventions throughout the home.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver therapeutic recreation programs and interventions that cater to the diverse needs and interests of residents.
  • Collaborate with the recreation team to plan and execute special events and activities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with residents, families, and healthcare team members to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of resident participation and program evaluation.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure seamless delivery of services.
Requirements:
  • College diploma or university degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a related field.
  • Experience working in a long-term care environment and knowledge of dementia care.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to facilitate and lead groups.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Availability to work every other weekend and additional shifts as required.
Personal Characteristics:
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements necessary to carry out job effectively.
Conditions of Employment:
  • Knowledge of the Resident Bill of Rights and commitment to promoting it.
  • Support for MOHLTC-Ministry of Health Long Term Care standards and Thrive Group policies and procedures.
