About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Program Therapist to join our team at DTOC III Long Term Care LP. As a Program Therapist, you will play a vital role in planning, implementing, and evaluating programs that meet the physical, social, emotional, cognitive, spiritual, and cultural needs of our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development and Implementation: Plan and implement programs based on resident assessments, offering new, creative, and innovative recreational programs to residents on an ongoing basis.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Complete accurate and thorough documentation, including program guides, participation tracking, monthly statistics, intake documentation, quarterly documentation, MDS/RAPS, regular care plan updates, progress notes, and assessments.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Participate in department meetings, unit meetings, and multidisciplinary care conferences, ensuring effective communication and good human relations with residents, families, volunteers, and staff.
  • Community Outreach and Partnerships: Develop and maintain community contacts and resources, working with different community-based agencies and groups to deliver programming to residents.
  • Quality Improvement: Understand and participate in the improvement of quality indicators, achieving satisfactory results.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, gerontology, or a related field, or equivalent experience and skills.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, computer literacy, and knowledge of RAI-MDS – AIS certified.
  • Personal Qualities: Warm and loving personality, ability to make meaningful connections with residents, and a commitment to teamwork and quality care.
