Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Culinary Specialist to join our team at Southbridge Care Homes. As a key member of our food services team, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals to our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and implement regular and therapeutic menus, ensuring that meals are prepared and served in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Prepare and cook meals, including evening meals, following standardized recipes and production sheets.
  • Ensure that meals are served at the correct temperature and in portion-controlled quantities.
  • Monitor and maintain the quality and quantity of food supplies, as well as the proper operation of kitchen equipment.
  • Direct and supervise Dietary Aides in food preparation and serving activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of menu changes, delivery receipts, and temperature checks.
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in large quantity institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality settings.
  • Chef training or culinary management certificate or diploma from a recognized institution.
  • Red Seal Cook Trade Certification (an asset).
  • Safe Food Handling Certificate from the Thunder Bay District Health Unit.
  • Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check (within the past 3 months).
  • Ability to work safely and follow established safety practices and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Working Conditions

This is a part-time position that requires flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. The successful candidate must be able to work safely and follow established safety practices and procedures.
