About the Opportunity

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Youth Justice Worker to join our team at Springboard. As a key member of our Community Justice Programs and Youth Homes - YCAPP team, you will play a vital role in supporting young people and their families as they navigate the youth justice system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement community-based interventions that respond to individual strengths and needs, and address prevention, rehabilitation, integration, and reparation of harm.
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders, including young people, families, and community organizations, to provide support and resources.
  • Conduct assessments and provide case management services to address risk, barriers, and protective factors of vulnerable youth.
  • Communicate and explain criminal justice processes with clients, including court processes, alternative measures, and community service orders.
  • Ensure sanctions, referrals, programming, and community service placements are appropriate, proportionate, accessible, and meaningful to meet the needs of the client, victim, community, and funder.
  • Crisis intervention skills to resolve incidents and other contentious issues; monitor client progress; report on the outcome of each case.

Requirements:

  • Diploma/Undergraduate Degree in the Social Sciences, Child and Youth Care, Social Work, or related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience working with youth who have experienced trauma in their lives from a trauma-informed framework.
  • Strong understanding of the systemic barriers that young people face and how this may impact youth and their own experiences.
  • Knowledge of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) and its application of Extrajudicial Measures (EJM) and Extrajudicial Sanctions (EJS), including the principles of proportionality and reparation.
  • Direct experience engaging with diverse populations and an ability to apply a culturally responsive lens to all interactions, including program implementation and capacity-building with young people.
  • Demonstrated skill and experience in developing and administering creative community-based interventions that respond to individual strengths and needs, and address prevention, rehabilitation, integration, and reparation of harm.
  • A demonstrated ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders effectively, respectfully, and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience in crisis prevention and intervention.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills in order to prioritize and deal with issues as they arise.
  • Effective use of technology, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong administrative and time management skills to collect, analyze, and prepare statistical reports accurately and on time.
  • Ability to positively represent the agency in outreach activities.
  • Excellent teamwork and ability to work independently and under pressure.
