The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Assistant to join our team. As an integral member of the school community, you will provide support to students with exceptional needs, promoting their academic and personal growth.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and empathetic individual to work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals to create a supportive learning environment. Your role will involve providing individualized support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, developmental disabilities, and other exceptional needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities in academic and daily living skills
  • Participate in pool programs, academic support, and implementing special programs
  • Assist students with learning disabilities, speech/language issues, and other exceptional needs
  • Modify programs and support learning for students with diverse needs
  • Perform yard duties, lifting, toileting, and/or pool duties as required
Requirements:
  • Community college diploma in Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Care/Worker, or equivalent
  • Minimum 1-2 years of related experience with school-aged special needs children
  • Valid First Aid certification/CPR Level C
  • Completed Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, TCI, and/or Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) training
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the ADHD brain and its impacts on processing information and emotional regulation
  • Experience developing and implementing self-regulation and behaviour management strategies
  • Behaviour modification and BMS assets
  • French language skills
