Overview

HarperCollins Publishers, a leading global publisher of books, is seeking an experienced Data Governance Specialist to join its team. Located in the New York office, this role offers a unique opportunity to work with award-winning authors and publications. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the company's data governance framework, ensuring data quality, integrity, and compliance across various systems.

Estimated Salary: $110,000 - $140,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement data governance processes, standards, and procedures in collaboration with business stakeholders, data owners, and custodians.
  • Analyze data domains to identify current data flows, silos, duplications, and inconsistencies, recommending solutions for resolution.
  • Lead data governance committees to align data definitions and maintain common schemas across various domains.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to document data inventory, definitions, and mappings for integrations and data quality rules.
  • Work with technology groups to implement governance solutions and standards, controls, and validations in various source applications.
  • Maintain data quality standards and metrics, monitoring and ensuring compliance with data governance policies and procedures.
  • Provide training and support to stakeholders on data governance policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in data governance, business analysis, or a related data field.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling and database design with the ability to write and run complex SQL queries.
  • Knowledge of metadata management tools and data catalogs for implementing governance policies and tracking data lineage, ownership, and documenting glossary and definitions.
  • Understanding of data integration and ETL tools for ensuring data consistency and integrity across different systems and applications.
  • Familiarity with relevant technologies such as SQL Server, Big Query, Azure Synapse, Power BI, and others.
  • Experience in project management, business analysis, or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
