At the Canadian Opera Company, we're seeking a visionary Director of Signature Events to join our Philanthropy & Audiences team. As a dynamic leader, you'll be responsible for crafting innovative event concepts, managing logistics, and overseeing volunteer recruitment to meet fundraising goals and enhance donor relations.

With a strong background in event management, you'll bring a combination of creativity, strategic thinking, and hands-on experience to lead our Signature Event portfolio with energy and excellence. You'll work closely with our Executive Director, Philanthropy & Audiences, to develop strategy and ensure the execution of high-quality special events that advance our brand and donor engagement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing event strategies to achieve financial and fundraising goals
  • Managing signature and campaign events, including corporate partnerships and in-kind support
  • Overseeing the entire event lifecycle, from concept to execution
  • Maintaining professional standards in all interactions with stakeholders
  • Liaising with our creative agency and Philanthropy & Audiences team on sponsorship proposals and event materials
  • Building and maintaining strong cross-departmental relationships
  • Facilitating volunteer committee solicitation and management
  • Strategically assessing current and emerging trends in event planning
  • Coordinating with suppliers and event venues
  • Managing in-kind partnerships and event sponsorships

Qualifications and key competencies include:

  • Progressive event management experience, including a minimum of six years of experience
  • Demonstrated experience recruiting key volunteers and managing formal event committees
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to organize and manage diverse assignments and projects
  • Proven ability to evaluate a portfolio of events and identify areas for opportunity and growth
  • Digital event proficiency, including experience managing digital events and familiarity with digital event management platforms
  • Superior project management abilities, with a focus on prioritization and efficiency
  • Knowledge of trends and emerging practices within fundraising and events
  • Strong facility using Microsoft Office
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

We offer a competitive salary range of $130,000 - $140,000, plus group benefits.
