Director, Innovation and Inclusion Job Description

At the Canadian Opera Company, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Innovation and Inclusion to join our Philanthropy & Audiences team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development and execution of high-quality special events that advance our brand and donor engagement, while achieving financial and fundraising goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Event Concept Development: Collaborate with the Executive Director, Philanthropy & Audiences to craft innovative event concepts that meet fundraising goals and enhance donor relations.
  • Event Management: Oversee all aspects of event management, including logistics, volunteer recruitment, and execution, to ensure successful events.
  • Volunteer Committee Management: Facilitate the volunteer committee solicitation process, identifying prospects, engaging them, and supporting committees to achieve event objectives.
  • Partnership Development: Build and maintain strong relationships with event venues, marketing and event agencies, and organizations in the arts, culture, and tourism sectors.
  • Event Evaluation: Strategically assess current and emerging trends in event planning, finding opportunities to elevate and enhance engagement.
Qualifications and Key Competencies:
  • Event Management Experience: Progressive, substantial event management experience, including a minimum of six years of experience in event management.
  • Volunteer Recruitment: Demonstrated experience recruiting key volunteers and management of formal event committees.
  • Project Management: Strong and efficient project management skills with the ability to organize and manage a diverse range of assignments and projects with high efficiency and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Digital Event Proficiency: Digital event proficiency, including experience managing digital events and familiarity with digital event management platforms.
