Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Events Director to join our team at the Royal Ontario Museum. As a key member of our events team, you will be responsible for planning and executing high-profile events that elevate donor engagement and meet ambitious fundraising goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive events strategy that aligns with the museum's fundraising goals and objectives.
  • Lead the planning and execution of signature events, including the ROM Classic Golf tournament and ROM Ball and ROM Celebration.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for corporate partnerships and in-kind support.
  • Represent the museum at external events and meetings, maintaining a high level of professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Manage and mentor a team of events staff, providing guidance and support to ensure successful event execution.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices, applying this knowledge to continuously improve event planning and execution.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in event management, with a proven track record of securing event fundraising and sponsorship.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of efficiency and attention to detail.
  • Experience working with senior volunteers, executive leadership, and other community stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic thinking capabilities and problem-solving skills.
  • Superior project management and prioritizing skills.
