Procurement Specialist I

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Procurement Specialist I to join our team at Alberta Health Services. This role will be responsible for performing purchasing functions consistent with established policies and practices, utilizing excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with staff and external vendors.
Key Responsibilities- Purchasing Functions: Perform purchasing functions consistent with established policies and practices, including researching and collating information, preparing requests for quotations, and issuing purchase orders using pre-set templates and established rules.
- Supply Chain Management: Manage the procurement and stocking of parts, including inventory and non-inventory items, to support maintenance operations.
- Vendor Relationships: Establish and maintain positive working relationships with users, buyers, and vendors to streamline procurement processes.
- Inventory Management: Maintain site stores, operate the tool crib, and ensure tools and rigging equipment were properly organized and maintained.
- Warranty Returns and Gas Cylinders: Handle warranty return items and manage compressed gas cylinders.
- Inventory and Equipment Assistance: Assist with capturing inventory details, costing related to maintenance and healthcare equipment, and organizing contracted inspections.
- Vendor Communication: Work with vendors to coordinate contract work as required.
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Intermediate understanding of purchasing fundamentals, including Logistics, Supply Chain Management (SCM), Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM).
- Basic understanding of contract language and legal terminology.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications.
- Keyboarding skills with a minimum of 30 wpm.
- Ability to communicate in English clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing, with all levels of staff, management, and vendors.
- Ability to produce a large volume of work with a high degree of accuracy.
- Effective organizational skills, ability to prioritize and strong attention to detail.
- Oracle or other ERP system experience.
- Client-focused and able to work effectively in a team environment.
- Demonstrates a high standard of work ethic in a previous position with minimal errors.
- Must be a self-starter, work with confidential information, demonstrate initiative and be able to action assigned tasks.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
