About the Role:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Procurement Specialist I to join our team at Alberta Health Services. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely procurement and management of parts used by our maintenance teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the procurement and stocking of parts, including inventory and non-inventory items, to support maintenance operations.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with users, buyers, and vendors to streamline procurement processes.
  • Process requests for parts and contractor quotes for purchase orders.
  • Maintain site stores, operate the tool crib, and ensure tools and rigging equipment are properly organized and maintained.
  • Handle warranty return items and manage compressed gas cylinders.
  • Assist with capturing inventory details, costing related to maintenance and healthcare equipment, and organizing contracted inspections.
  • Work with vendors to coordinate contract work as required.

Requirements:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Intermediate understanding of purchasing fundamentals, including Logistics, Supply Chain Management (SCM), Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), and Customer Relationship Management (CRM).
  • Basic understanding of contract language and legal terminology.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Keyboarding skills with a minimum of 30 wpm.
  • Ability to communicate in English clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing, with all levels of staff, management, and vendors.
  • Ability to produce a large volume of work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Effective organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and strong attention to detail.
  • Oracle or other ERP system experience.
  • Client-focused and able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrates a high standard of work ethic in a previous position with minimal errors.
  • Must be a self-starter, work with confidential information, demonstrate initiative, and be able to action assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
