The primary focus will be on collaborating with the CRT and assisting the learning leads in the urgent response team.

Responsibilities will include assessment, supervision, and providing constructive feedback on a one-on-one clinical basis, working closely with line management to address the training and professional development needs of both new and existing staff.

You will play a significant role in future workforce planning and the development of community service pathways, ensuring a nurturing learning environment that fosters successful educational outcomes.

Additionally, the position entails providing clinical support with 20% of your time dedicated to direct patient interaction.

Key Responsibilities

The Community Education Coordinator (CEC) will assess and address training requirements, design, implement, and evaluate educational initiatives for trainees, newcomers, and current practitioners within the Out of Hospital Care Collaborative.

The successful candidate will demonstrate specialized knowledge and skills, act as a clinical authority and effective leader, serve as a role model, and facilitate work-based learning.

Central to this role is the responsibility to collaborate with colleagues to establish, implement, and maintain standards, particularly those related to staff knowledge, skill enhancement, and patient safety through participation in audits.

The CEC will allocate 80% of their time to clinical engagement with trainees, newcomers, and existing staff, while dedicating 20% to supporting Lead Practitioners in identifying educational needs and planning, executing, and assessing educational activities in their clinical practice area.

The Community Education Coordinator will facilitate the growth of all community nurses and trainees by:

- Acting independently as a visible and approachable resource for practice-based staff while upholding professional standards to maintain public and staff confidence in accordance with the NMC.

- Fostering a positive learning culture that encourages all staff to engage in lifelong learning initiatives, applying their knowledge directly to practice.

- Supporting the ongoing development and implementation of educational initiatives, particularly in the orientation, preceptorship, and mentorship of trainees and newcomers.

- Designing, delivering, and evaluating formal and informal teaching sessions and work-based learning programs to support the professional and practice development of both registered and non-registered practitioners.

- Participating in relevant committees and groups in the absence of the Professional Lead to influence and advance the development of professional practice.

- Leading or contributing to initiatives that result in modifications to existing practices and systems of professional working, assisting staff of all levels in utilizing reflective and quality improvement principles to adapt to changes in practice.

- Actively representing the organization at internal and external forums pertinent to the focus area of work.

- Contributing to the development and review of policies, procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), care pathways, and protocols to ensure compliance with national, local, and professional standards.

- Assisting with the selection and recruitment within the Out of Hospital Workforce, participating in interview panels, and supporting the development of recruitment methods aligned with a reflective culture.

Clinical / Leadership

- Maintaining clinical skills and competencies to provide safe and effective direct patient care when necessary, either to facilitate aspects of this role or to support service priorities as needed.

- Assisting Team Leaders in supporting service priorities.

- Providing clinical management of the Department in the absence of the Professional Lead.
