Salary Range: $63,000 - $70,000

At Canuck Place, we prioritize the well-being of our staff, ensuring they not only survive but thrive. Our commitment to a living wage means that all entry-level positions start at a minimum of $25.64 per hour, equating to an annual salary of $50,000.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Engagement Lead for Philanthropy plays a pivotal role in fostering connections with potential donors who have the capacity to significantly contribute to Canuck Place's mission. This position involves nurturing relationships and employing moves management strategies to convert prospects into committed supporters. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual with a vision for growth to enhance the existing efforts at Canuck Place Children's Hospice.

We are looking for a candidate with experience in direct engagement with individuals and the ability to lead fundraising efforts that resonate with the interests and values of potential donors, aligning them with the mission of Canuck Place. This role is ideal for someone experienced in collaborating with both corporate and individual donors, as well as engaging diverse communities in British Columbia and Yukon.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify and cultivate opportunities, build relationships, and implement strategies that promote leadership giving to support Canuck Place's objectives.
  • Create an engagement and solicitation strategy to pinpoint potential donors capable of contributing $10,000 or more annually, collaborating with the Major Gifts team to outline critical pathways and execution plans.
  • Utilize prospect management tools to identify and assess potential donors.
  • Formulate a comprehensive plan with quarterly and annual goals for donor engagement and solicitation.
  • Manage a portfolio of donors, seeking opportunities for engagement, providing compelling updates on the mission, and delivering tailored communications.
  • Leverage prospect research tools to discover new relationships and innovative methods to secure additional funding.
  • Employ a structured moves management approach, customizing strategies for each relationship to encourage long-term commitments and increased donations.
  • Develop strategic proposals aligned with the organization’s funding goals to meet or exceed annual revenue targets.
  • Monitor and assess activities and outcomes, identifying challenges and addressing them proactively.
  • Take a lead role in soliciting, securing, and managing significant contributions.
  • Collaborate with the Development Manager to establish an annual budget and achieve set targets.
  • Work with a cross-functional team to plan and execute engaging donor events for targeted audiences.
  • Manage a portfolio of current and prospective donors, collaborating with the Development Manager to develop strategies to achieve revenue goals between $450,000 and $600,000.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will possess a relevant degree or diploma from a recognized institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of three years of progressive experience in non-profit fundraising is preferred, particularly in managing individual giving, major gifts, or planned giving portfolios. This experience should include meeting revenue targets and enhancing donor engagement year over year. Involvement with the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) or pursuing CFRE accreditation is advantageous.

  • Demonstrated discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with donor CRM systems such as Virtuous or Raiser's Edge; familiarity with remote collaboration tools is beneficial.
  • Public speaking skills, both in-person and virtually.
  • Attention to detail, particularly in data management and project timelines.
  • Commitment to inclusive fundraising practices.
  • Strong analytical, presentation, and research abilities.
  • A valid BC driver's license and access to a vehicle are preferred.
