Location: Hybrid - Remote and Office-Based
Reporting to: Development Manager
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time (1.0 FTE, 75 hours bi-weekly)
Salary Range: $63,000 - $70,000
At Canuck Place, we prioritize the well-being of our staff, ensuring they thrive in a supportive environment. Our commitment to fair compensation means that our entry-level positions start at a minimum of $25.64 per hour, equivalent to an annual salary of $50,000.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Engagement Lead for Philanthropy will work closely with the Development Manager to connect with new audiences capable of making significant contributions to Canuck Place's mission. This role focuses on cultivating and nurturing relationships, employing moves management strategies to transition prospects into committed donors. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual with a vision for growth to enhance the existing initiatives at Canuck Place Children's Hospice.
We are looking for a candidate with experience in direct engagement with individuals and a proven ability to lead solicitations grounded in a deep understanding of donors' interests and values that resonate with Canuck Place's mission. This position is ideal for a fundraiser experienced in collaborating with both corporate and individual donors, as well as engaging diverse communities in British Columbia and Yukon.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify and develop opportunities, build relationships, and implement strategies that promote leadership giving to support Canuck Place's mission.
- Create an engagement and solicitation strategy to identify potential donors in the $10,000+ annual giving range, collaborating with the Major Gifts team to outline critical pathways and execution plans.
- Utilize prospect management tools to identify and qualify potential donors.
- Formulate a comprehensive plan with quarterly and annual targets for donor engagement and solicitation.
- Actively manage a portfolio of donors, seeking opportunities for engagement and providing compelling updates on the mission of Canuck Place.
- Employ prospect research tools to discover new relationships and innovative methods to secure additional revenue streams.
- Implement a disciplined moves management approach, customizing strategies for each relationship to encourage multi-year commitments and increased contributions.
- Draft strategic proposals aligned with the organization’s short, medium, and long-term funding objectives to meet or exceed annual revenue goals.
- Monitor and assess activities and outcomes, identifying challenges and addressing them as necessary.
- Take a leading role in soliciting, securing, and stewarding significant donations.
- Collaborate with the Development Manager to establish an annual budget and achieve set targets.
- Work with a cross-functional team to plan and execute engaging donor events for targeted audiences.
- Manage a portfolio of current and prospective donors, working with the Development Manager to develop strategies to achieve a revenue goal of $450,000-$600,000.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will hold a relevant degree or diploma from a recognized institution or possess an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of three years of progressive experience in non-profit fundraising is preferred, including managing a major gifts portfolio and achieving revenue targets while enhancing donor engagement.

- Ability to manage priorities effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Commitment to confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with donor CRM systems such as Virtuous or Raiser's Edge; familiarity with remote work tools is a plus.
- Strong public presentation skills, both in-person and virtually.
- Attention to detail, particularly in project management and database oversight.
- Dedication to inclusive fundraising practices.
- Strong analytical, presentation, and research capabilities.
- A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle are preferred.

NOTE:
- Proof of Health Canada-approved vaccinations is required prior to the start of employment.
