About Wise: Wise is a global technology firm dedicated to revolutionizing the way individuals and businesses manage and transfer money worldwide.

Our mission is to simplify the process of sending money internationally, spending abroad, and facilitating cross-border payments, ultimately saving our customers money.

Role Overview: We are seeking a Product Compliance & Risk Manager to play a pivotal role in the growth of our Assets product in Australia.

With our Assets offering, we are transforming the perception of money management. Customers can opt to hold their funds as 'cash' or invest in money market funds, which provide a low-risk return aligned with prevailing interest rates.

Having successfully launched the Assets product in the UK, Europe, and Singapore, we are now focused on expanding its reach in Australia.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards for investment products offered to Australian customers.
  • Identify and mitigate key risks associated with the Assets product.
  • Collaborate with product teams throughout the product lifecycle, from design to post-launch evaluation.
  • Serve as the primary resource for regulatory inquiries related to the Wise Assets Australia product.
  • Conduct comprehensive regulatory analyses of new offerings, ensuring robust controls are established prior to launch.
  • Empower product teams to adopt a risk-based methodology in developing products and processes.
  • Analyze relevant regulations to enhance our product offerings and maintain competitiveness.
Regulatory Risk Management:
  • Identify and manage regulatory risks for Wise's investment product in Australia.
  • Perform pre-launch and ongoing regulatory risk assessments, advising product managers on compliance gaps and risks.
  • Work alongside Compliance and Product teams to ensure timely execution of remediation plans.
  • Collaborate with second-line compliance oversight teams to keep product teams updated on regulatory changes.
  • Engage with Compliance and Risk teams to identify and address primary regulatory issues in Australia.
Qualifications:

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A deep understanding of Australian regulations applicable to retail investment firms.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a legal or compliance capacity within the retail investment sector or broader investment industry.
  • A problem-solving mindset, leveraging regulations and data to inform business decisions.
  • A proactive approach, demonstrating ownership and initiative in driving projects to completion.
  • Familiarity with the evolving regulatory landscape set forth by ASIC regarding retail investment products.
  • An understanding of payment systems and the regulatory requirements for Authorised Deposit-taking Institutions (ADIs).
  • Experience in a startup or scale-up environment.
  • A collaborative spirit, capable of working effectively with diverse stakeholders, including Product and Compliance teams.
Why Wise: We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team, where every individual feels respected and empowered to contribute to our mission.

At Wise, we believe that inclusive teams drive innovation and success, and we celebrate the unique perspectives that each team member brings.
