Role Overview

As the IT Risk Assurance Specialist within Wise's European Risk Management Team, you will assume responsibility for the assurance of IT and security risks. Your primary focus will be on the second line of defense, ensuring thorough evaluation and challenge of IT and security risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and ongoing enhancement across the organization's IT infrastructure and information systems. You will play a vital role in overseeing risk management frameworks across Europe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and challenge the first line-of-defense functions regarding risks and essential remediation controls during risk and control self-assessment workshops.
  • Provide assurance on technology (IT & Security) risks for European operations, overseeing mitigation efforts across Wise's IT infrastructure and information systems.
  • Ensure alignment of the IT control framework with global standards and conduct comprehensive risk reviews.
  • Develop continuous technology risk reporting, monitor significant trends, and establish metrics to assess control effectiveness regularly.
  • Deliver consolidated technology risk oversight, measurement, and reporting activities.
  • Engage actively in comprehensive risk remediation planning, resolution, and monitoring efforts.
  • Support Technology Risk reporting operations, including scheduling essential meetings, tracking milestones, managing escalations, and archiving key documentation for audit purposes.
  • Identify potential regulatory and non-regulatory IT risks through ongoing assessments in collaboration with relevant business leaders.
  • Foster and maintain strong, positive relationships and effective communication with other risk professionals at both group and local levels.
  • Act as the primary contact for Technology Risk Management.
  • Participate in annual Business Continuity and IT Disaster Recovery planning exercises.

Qualifications

  • In-depth understanding of organizational technology controls, security, and risk management issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trustworthy relationships with IT and security teams as well as business stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with various programming languages is advantageous.
  • Expertise in technology controls and information security.
  • Proficiency in exploring, developing, and adapting automation tools.
  • Strong skills in cloud architecture are a plus.
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in French or Dutch is an advantage.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously to ensure timely completion.
  • Stay informed about current trends in Information Security, business continuity, data management, security, encryption, and vulnerability analysis.
  • Experience with Key Risk Indicators and Technology Risk reporting is preferred.
