Family Support Network Counsellor

Wood's Homes is a leading mental health centre in Calgary, Alberta, dedicated to building good mental health and well-being in our community. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Family Support Counsellor to join our Family Support Network program.

Role Summary

The Family Support Counsellor will work with children and families in the care of Wood's Homes, providing in-home support, school liaison, and community coordination as needed. This role requires exceptional delivery of high-quality services and adherence to our Health and Safety Management System.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct program-related assessments and establish goals and areas of focus with families.
  • Advocate for families and support the development of a network of resources with the family, community, and other professionals.
  • Provide parent skills training and individual and family counselling.
  • Ensure the safety of all family members by intervening in crisis situations and providing follow-up care as required.
  • Participate in weekly supervision, case reviews, clinical rounds, and team meetings to ensure effective Family Support services.
  • Report workplace hazards and incidents to their direct supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Human Sciences, Childcare, or a related field.
  • Minimum two to four years' experience working with infants, children, and/or adolescents, and families.
  • Family and in-home support experience preferred.
  • Case Management experience is preferred.
  • Full, non-GDL class 5 driver's license and own transportation required.
